New challenge pose of the week: revolved hand to big toe pose, aka-twisted tree pose!
This standing balance pose involves a deep twist that stretches out the notoriously tight IT band. It also lengthens the hamstring muscles and gluts. The standing leg and core are used strongly to creat stability in the pose, while the twist improves mobility to the spine and massages out the internal organs. This asana can be modified by bending the extended knee or even using the wall. So come to class this week and have some fun exploring the dynamics of this pose, feel free wobble, fall, and get right back in!
