Beginner Series: Yoga Foundations

Our 6-week beginners series introduces the fundamental principles of of yoga. Students will learn the basic postures (asana), breath work (pranayama) and how to connect movement to breath. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis is placed on understanding, safety, and ability within each pose. Modifications will be offered. If you have never tried yoga this is the class for you, designed to meet the needs of those new to yoga as well as those seeking continued understanding of basic yoga poses. When finished you should be comfortable attending most of our classes on the schedule. Join Amelia Frey every Saturday from January 13 - February 17, 2018 from 11:45am-1:00pm to explore the world of yoga and begin the journey of self inquiry.

Restorative Yoga with Singing Bowls

Join Annette Barret and Janet Kuhn for this Restorative Workshop enhanced by the beautiful sounds of the singing bowls, bringing mind and body into a deeper state of relaxation. The vibrations of the bowls when placed and played on the body go deep into the cells and release tension on a very deep level. Restorative poses are intended to completely relax and calm the body by using various props, so the combination along with some aromatherapy, will leave you in a state of bliss on and off the mat! Essential Oils will be used to add to the whole experience!

Stress Management and Mood Enhancement

At this workshop by Baker Ranch Yoga co-owner Sandy Jones, PhD with special guests Melissa and Brandon Miller, we will be sharing natural remedies for stress that comes from our environment.  This workshop is free for all members and the public.  Members, feel free to bring a friend and all participants can stay for the 5:30pm yoga class afterward!

2 Hour Free Yoga For Athletes Workshop

On Saturday, September 6th, join us for a workshop on how yoga can complement your crossfit training.  In this workshop, we’ll learn some basics for alignment in the major joints of the body, focusing on increasing range of motion in the shoulders and hips.  In addition, we’ll practice some stretches you can use on your own in order to keep your body open and to help you recover more quickly from workouts.  And, we’ll practice some more advanced poses in order to learn how to use our existing strength (especially in the core and through the trunk of the body) to create greater balance - you might even stand on your head! 

Date: Saturday, Sept. 6th

Time: 9:45 am - 11:45 am

No cost, and no special equipment needed (although if you have your own mat, you may want to bring it).
