Kelly Sparks

OCCUPATION:

  • Yoga Instructor

CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION:

  • Yoga Alliance 200-RYT
  • B.S. University of Oregon

Kelly took her first yoga class back in 2000 just after an injury from competitive gymnastics had brought her career to a close. Through yoga, she regained her strength and learned how to heal. Discovering that she was able to maintain her prior level of physical fitness and even deepen it surprised her. However what shocked her more, was the effect yoga had on her emotional outlook. Yoga had sparked a spiritual journey in her that continues to evolve. After over 10 years of personal practice exploring the deeper facets of yoga asana, anatomy, and philosophy she was accepted into a yoga teacher-training program in Thailand where she received her 200 hr. certification in Ashtanga Vinyasa as taught by Sri K. Patthabi Joi. The lessons and insights she gained at the shala were transformational and have given her a unique teaching style. Kelly likes to weave in heartfelt spiritual elements while maintaining an adventurous and playful spirit. Her classes offer space for beginners learning the fundamentals of the practice as well as those looking for advancement in more demanding poses. You can’t help leaving her class feeling uplifted and empowered both physically and emotionally.

Amelie Fery

OCCUPATION:

  • Yoga Instructor

  • 2010: 250 h teacher training at the Breathing Center in Los Angeles with Robert Birnberg

  • 2011: 300 h teacher training at Yogaworks in Orange County

Amelie grew up in France where she was exposed to yoga and other mind-body modalities early on. Later, while studying and working in various countries as a translator and a language teacher, she continuously practiced yoga which led her to discover and appreciate different yoga styles. While working in India for 4 months, she received private daily yoga instruction. Trained in Viniyoga through two teacher trainings in Brussels and in Los Angeles, she then completed a third teacher training in Newport Beach to learn the Yogaworks method.

For the past 10 years, she has gained experience teaching yoga to all-levels at various studios, chair yoga and restorative yoga for the MS Society and at seniors centers, and also kids yoga at schools. She learnt to be creative while adapting the yoga practice to a broad range of students. Her passion for languages led her to create a Kids Yoga program in French and in Spanish to facilitate language acquisition through the practice of yoga.

Also trained as a hypnotherapist, she particularly enjoys incorporating in her classes a segment of guided imagery to support stress management, enhance deep relaxation, and improve clarity. This technique has personally empowered her to peacefully give birth at home to her third child. Therefore, in her private yoga instruction, she loves designing a home practice for her students where the use of postures, breathing, relaxation, and meditation contribute to the achievement of their goals.

Currently enrolled in a counseling Master’s degree program, her objective is to blend psychotherapy and yoga to foster personal growth and re-establish peace and effective communication in families where relationships have deteriorated.
